On February 28 and March 1, 130
young people fasted for 30 hours to raise money for the fight against
hunger in the world and in our local area. The event, for the sixth year
in a row, took place at St. Philip. Just below are photos taken during
the fast itself, and the lower group of pictures is from the 10:00 a.m.
Mass where the participants broke their
fast with the Eucharist
Although the fast is over, contributions are still being accepted.
You can make your check out to World Vision, for the fight against world
hunger, or to Manna House, the soup kitchen in Norwalk. As of the end of
the famine on Sunday it was reported that $18,000 had been raised so far
this year.
As a special feature of the Famine this year, the participants, in
conjunction with the St. Philip Artists Guild, created a number of works
of art relevant to the theme of the event. Some of the art work is
visible in the photos.
