9) What has the Parish Council been doing?

1) What does the Parish Council do?

The Parish Council acts as an advisory body (to the Pastor and staff) and decision making body (with the Pastor and staff) for the Parish's various ministries such as Liturgy (e.g. Music, Special Seasons, etc.), Faith Formation (e.g. RCIA, Children are Special masses, MOMs group. etc.), Social Concerns (e.g. visiting the sick, sorting food, etc.) and business affairs (e.g. finances, campus buildings, etc).

2) What are PC members required to do?

Parish Council members are required to attend a monthly meeting in which various topics concerning Parish life, activities, business affairs, etc. will be discussed, debated and decided upon. In addition Parish Council members may become involved with some of the various Parish committees (Liturgy, Youth Ministry, Finance, Buildings & Grounds,  etc) and keep the Parish Council informed as to the activities of these committees.

3) How many people are on the Parish Council?

The goal is to have from 14 - 16 parishioners on the Council (this total doesn't include "ex-officio" members). The Parish Council wishes to have two (2) youth members (at least 16 years of age) among the 14-16 members. See below for the current list of members.

4) How often does the PC meet?

Once a month in the School Board Room from September through June, a picnic/barbecue meeting in July and no meeting in August.

5) How much time is required of me if I join the PC?

A typical meeting is 1 1/2 - 2 hours. Between the meetings there may be some follow up work to be done, typically a couple of phone calls or e mails seeking information or making people aware of an activity.

6) How do I join the PC?

You may speak with Fr. Boccaccio, (Parish office 847-4549) or contact Beth Pachkovsky, present Parish Council Chair at 203-846-3801 or at pachhome@optonline.net
